Real Wood Flooring

PDQ Contract Flooring is proud to have been a part of the prestigious London Maritime Museum refurbishment project. Our expert team worked on a large commercial job, laying real wood floors that added a touch of elegance and sophistication to the museum's interior.

As part of the Royal Museums Greenwich, the National Maritime Museum is dedicated to enriching people's understanding of the sea and Britain's role in world history.

With 14 different galleries to explore, visitors can experience the lives of both ordinary seamen and well-known characters, such as Christopher Columbus and Francis Drake in the Tudor and Stuart Seafarers Gallery. The Pacific Encounters Gallery provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the complex legacy of European exploration, while the Polar Worlds Gallery showcases the stories of heroic explorers pushed to the extremes of human endurance.

PDQ had the challenging task of installing real wood flooring, designed to recreate the movement of water. The planks were laid at alternating angles, stained a specific Blue tone and then curve up into one area of the gallery to create a large wooden ‘wave’. We also finished some of the areas with clear lacquer to emulate the sandy beach. A truly stunning result and one we’re very proud to have in our portfolio!

Bolon flooring

We laid hardwearing Bolon flooring in the adjoining museum galleries. Dark and light Grey Bolon were chosen to compliment the stained Blue wood floor. The Bolon Flooring gives the gallery a stylish contemporary feel whilst the light grey flooring guides the visitors round the walkways and staircases.
