Real Wood Flooring

PDQ Contract Flooring installed a white oiled brushed engineered oak floor in the Being Human gallery at the prestigious Wellcome Collection in Euston Road, London. We also had the task of bringing an old floor in Gallery 2 back to life, restoring the wide oak plank by sanding back to bare wood and sealing with a tough Pallman Lacquer.

The Collection is a free museum and library that explores the connections between science, medicine, life and art. The Wellcome Collection Museum and Library houses over 250,000 items, including books, manuscripts, images, and objects, such as paintings, drawings, prints, photos, stamps, and audio-visual materials, all exploring the human experience of health. It’s also part of the global charitable foundation, Wellcome, which supports research into solving urgent health challenges, focusing on mental health, infectious disease, and climate.

The wood was fitted in different directions which all had to line up with various wall panels and columns - the end result was stunning.

Flooring Restoration

We sanded and sealed the original wood flooring in gallery 2 which as you can see from the photos had a heavy dark stain and was very scratched. The team worked hard to take the wood right back past the scratches and dirt to reveal its former glory. Four coats of a durable commercial grade Pallman lacquer was then applied to give a light, fresh and new feel to the gallery.
