The Benefits of Wood Floor Restoration: Is it Worth the Investment?

PDQ contract flooring has many years of experience in wood floor restoration. We have brought back to life some wood floors that looked to many as unsalvageable. We have been asked the question ‘Is my floor worth restoring?’ many times, and the answer more often than not is yes!

We have restored wood floors that are 10, 20 years old, some floors older than 100 years! Right through from oak floors in small cottages to pine floors in town houses. Including many thousands of meters of woodblock flooring in schools and hotels. Saving an old wood floor can be a rewarding and sustainable option.

Sometimes we have had to replace certain areas, such as water damage, holes and rotten areas etc. But in general, a deep sand then a hard wax oil or lacquer applied can achieve some beautiful and worthwhile results. Our staff are highly skilled in floor restoration and our machines are of professional standard, which extract the dust safely.

When restoring wood floors there is also the option to get creative. You may not like the colour of the wood or it just doesn’t suit the houses decor. This is where the vast choice of stains or coloured oils and lacquers come in. You can get most species of wood to look totally different by using colour, whilst keeping the woods original character. We normally apply a few sample colours on your floor after sanding, so you can see what they look like in suite.

There is nothing more satisfying than seeing something that was carefully crafted many years ago being brought back to its former glory or even better than when it was first laid.

If you have a wood floor that you are considering restoring, or think you may have a treasure hiding under your carpet - Please contact our team for expert advice.
